TERMS OF USE
Last updated: 2026-10-02
Thank you for using Invoice Builder (“the Application”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of this software. By downloading, installing, or using the Application, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use the Application.
1. Overview
The Application is a free, open-source desktop and self-hosted web software tool that allows users to create and manage invoices, quotations, clients, items, and businesses. Desktop and self-hosted installations store data on your device or configured server or database; they do not send application data to the developer.
Public Demo
The optional public demo is hosted on Render for evaluation only. Unlike your own installation, it sends and stores entered data on that hosted service. Use fictional data only: databases may be accessible to other visitors and the service operator. Do not upload real invoices, personal information, backups containing real data, or database credentials.
The demo runs on Render's free plan, may take a moment to wake up, and may become unavailable or lose data without notice. It is not intended for production use and provides no guaranteed storage, retention, backup, or recovery. The local-storage and no-cloud statements below apply to desktop and self-hosted installations, not this demo; local storage includes your configured server or database.
2. License
The Application’s source code is released under the MIT, which is included in this repository.
These Terms govern use of the compiled application, not the underlying source code license.
3. Local Data Storage
The Application stores all files, databases, and configuration data locally on your device.
- You are solely responsible for securely managing, backing up, and protecting your data.
- The developer does not collect, store, or have access to any information you create using the Application.
- If your data becomes lost or corrupted, the developer cannot recover it.
4. No Account, No Cloud Services
The Application does not require an account and does not connect to any external servers operated by the developer.
Exporting, printing, or storing files on third-party services (e.g., Dropbox, OneDrive, printers, PDF tools) is done at your own risk and is governed by those services’ policies.
5. Your Responsibilities
You agree that:
- You will use the Application in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (including tax, invoicing, and business laws in your region).
- You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of any invoices, quotations, or reports generated by the Application.
- You will not use the Application for illegal or unauthorized purposes.
6. Disclaimer of Warranty
THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including but not limited to:
- warranties of merchantability
- fitness for a particular purpose
- non-infringement
- accuracy, reliability, or completeness of generated documents
Use the Application at your own risk.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The developer shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages arising from or connected to your use or inability to use the Application.
- This includes, but is not limited to, loss of revenue, loss of data, business interruption, or legal consequences of incorrect invoicing.
If applicable law does not allow full limitation of liability, the developer’s total liability shall not exceed USD $0.
8. Updates and Changes
The developer may update, modify, or discontinue the Application at any time without notice.
These Terms may also be updated. Continued use of the Application after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
9. Third-Party Libraries
The Application uses open-source dependencies under their respective licenses. You agree to comply with those licenses when using or redistributing this software.
10. Open-Source Contributions
Contributions to the project are welcome. By submitting code, issues, or documentation, you agree to the project’s contribution guidelines and licensing terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted according to the laws of Lithuanian, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions.
